Templates overwrite (replace) any selected text, or get inserted at the cursor position if no text is selected. Templates are usually intended to be modified, and provide a basic outline and structure for content. Use the @@inc macro for inserting boilerplate files (repeated content, not for modification) into an existing page.
- Cancel Edits to close the editing window without saving changes.
- Options
- Selects Font and Tab Size, toggles the Line Number display, Highlight Line function, and Auto-Complete options.
- Bookmarks
- Shows options to Toggle a bookmark at the current line position in the text, Clear all bookmarks, or jump to the Previous or Next bookmark in the text.
- Save Saves your edited file as the source for the page, and saves the previous version into the page's .bak file, just in case you change your mind later on.
- Cancel Edits Bails you out of the editing session without saving the changes. Jumping to another page without first using Save will also cancel editing changes.
- Dropdown Combobox Lists
- DIV Styles
- SPAN Styles
- Insert WW Filename
- While you are editing, you have access to the DIV Styles, SPAN Styles, and Insert WW Filename dropdown lists. DIV and SPAN show the names and brief descriptions of classes in the Cascading Style Sheet. DIV Styles shows styles to use for blocks of content like menus, boxed chunks of text, and other page-layout elements. SPAN Styles apply to inline elements, like bolded or italicized text. The Insert WW Filename dropdown lists the files visible in the current project. Select a filename, and click Do for the dropdown to insert the filename as a WikiWriter link in the text.
To use the lists to insert style markup, first select text (words, letters, or phrases for SPAN, whole paragraphs for DIV) or just place your cursor as the target in the text. Then click on the list to open it (selected text in the editor lose its highlight but will still be selected), scroll to view the contents of the list, and click on the style you want to insert. Then click on Do to the right of your selected style. See Markup Syntax for instructions on applying styles by direct entry in WikiWriter pages.
- Project Address Line
- In the status line at the bottom of the window, you see a Page:.... line showing the full path and filename of the page currently displayed in WikiWriter. It helps to know you are editing the right project
