Use the editor to write a page

You work in WikiWriter by editing pages in a text view, then showing them in a browser view.

  1. To make changes on any page, including a brand-new page, click on the Edit Page link at the top or bottom of the page.
  2. The source text for that page pops up, loaded into an HTML textarea editing box.
  3. Delete the New Page notice, and put in your own text. Keep it simple, for now. This will do fine:

       My first iWiki page

  4. If you decide to abandon your editing changes completely, select Edit > Cancel Edits (or the page-with-X button) and the page will revert to its previous content.
Note that in the editing box, to do cut, copy, and paste operations you can use the context menu (the mouse pop-up menu) -- select text and right-click to get the context menu with Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, and Select All. Shortcut keys Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V also work in this editing box. You can select-drag and drop to move text around. Double-click selects a word, tripe-click selects a paragraph. Clicking in the line-number column also selects a paragraph, and click-drag selects multiple paragraphs.

You can toggle bookmarks to drop a marker for a paragraph, then use Next and Previous bookmark buttons to jump to bookmarked locations in your text.
