Compile and package a WikiWriter eBook

Many WikiWriter sites are not meant for distribution — they are the user's Personal Information Management system, or a note-taking site for school or research project, or a book manuscript. But if you've got a WikiWriter site that the world should see, then the world shall see it!

WikiWriter's Compile to eBook option produces a compiled file with the CSS file, all the WikiWriter pages, and all graphics for the project.

"Compiled file?" Yes, compiled file. WikiWriter will pull all the pages for a project into a single file readable by Microsoft Internet Explorer. The compilation processes is not complicated:

  1. To package a project for distribution, first open the project in WikiWriter.
  2. Select Tools on the menu bar, then select Compile to eBook.
  3. The system will ask for a file name and location with the standard Windows file dialog. Give the name (with an .mht extension) and location for the file, and click on Open. You can put this file anywhere you want.
  4. WikiWriter then collects all the pages for the current open project into that targetfile.
  5. Put the compiled .mht file into a Zip archive if you wish, and you have a project distribution package.
